The seminar for Chigiriki has taken place

Posted on Categories Home

In the courtyard of the Hombu dojo of the Organization “Taiyou e no Michi”, this Sunday the traditional seminar Chigiriki was held. This unusual weapon, made from a stick on which a chain and ball are attached, in the past was an integral part of multiple Japanese martial arts. Sadly, today very few practitioners try to keep the tradition going through its use meaning through training with it.

During the seminar nine techniques were taught, after the instructor explained the positions beforehand, and also the blocks and attacks with Chigiriki.

No doubt next year there will be a seminar organized on the same topic, because we are sure that a complete warrior, has to know in detail the entire arsenal of weapons which were used by the legendary Japanese warriors – the Samurai and the Ninja.

The seminar for Jutte was held

With great interest was welcomed the seminar for the use of a Japanese batton from the period Edo – known under the name of Jutte.

The instructor Igor Dovezenski this Sunday taught his students in the techniques of use for the Jutte from the school of Kukisinden-ryu Happobiken, and they tirelessly absorbed all knowledge from the teacher.

Right from the start, the participants could get acquainted with the basic strikes with the samurai steel baton, and then they trained in the five katas of this old ‘Sogo Bujutsu school’.

To the joy of all, in the end it was decided that this past weekend in the Hombu was one of the most interesting ones to date.

Toami seminar in the Hombu dojo of “Taiyou e no Michi”

This past Saturday in the yard of the Hombu dojo a seminar was held for the use of Toami or fishermans net – one of the secretive weapons from the arsenal of the legendary Shinobi warriors.

During the event, the teacher Igor Dovezenski taught the participants in the techniques of using the Toami and ways of throwing and fighting with a net.

It is very hard to describe the amazement of those present at the execution of the techniques by the instructor, and the main question at the end of the seminar was: “When will the next one be”

The traditional seminar "Power of Yari IX" was held

Posted on Categories Home

Yesterday in the yard of the Hombu Dojo of ” Taiyou e no Michi” for the ninth time was held the traditional seminar titled “Power of Yari”.
The younger members of Bujinkan Macedonia had the opportunity to study the techniques of spear fighting and in the same time feel the spirit of the past, while the advanced practitioners refreshed their knowledge.

Although the seminar was originally meant to be held on the edge of the forest of Mlaka, because of the rain that kept falling almost through the entire day, the instructor Dovezenski decided that the participants should train in the yard in front of the Hombu.

After the event ended, on the internet Forum, shidoshi ho Marko Opacik encouraged the younger members of the dojo to more regularly take part in the seminars in nature and in the central dojo of Bujinkan Macedonia:

– It was amazing to train in front of the Hombu Dojo. The spear in an amazing weapon that is truly hard to master, although in the hands of Sensei it look as if he is holding a stick of cotton. The weather was not on our side, a light and cold rain kept falling and we kept trudging through mud, but regardless, we had a great time. Although I have been taking part in this seminar for nine years now, I keep discovering new details and Sensei always gives us some new kuden. Of how wonderful are those moments spent in the Hombu surrounded by incredible people, compatriots, brothers, sisters…

Next Saturday we have Toami Jutsu, and the next day Jutte. We will see each other soon.

The leader of Bujinkan Macedonia, Igor Dovezenski, this Saturday held a one day training session in shuriken throwing. In the event took part six members of Bujinkan Macedonia from varied ages and skill levels.

During the exercise, the teacher Dovezenski taught techniques of throwing from different body positions, as from small, so from large distances.

The training in throwing weapons (Shuriken Jutsu) usually takes place a day before the spear (Yari) seminar, during which special care is taken to correct all and any mistakes that beginners usually make during training in this ancient Japanese martial art.

A Ne Waza seminar was held in Skopje

In the Skopje dojo of Bujinkan Macedonia, the instructor Igor Dovezenski yesterday held a four hour Ne Waza seminar in which took part multiple members from the dojo.

During the event studied and practiced were techniques of transition meaning going from one position to the other when the enemy is in the offensive (Tai Nagashi), then came contra techniques (Kaeshi Waza), and also grapples and chokes (Kansetsu and Shime Waza).

To our great pleasure, in the seminar took part Menka Stojanoska, consecutive Macedonian yearly champion in BJJ, Wrestling, as also in other disciplines in which ground fighting is a priority. As a girl who took her first steps in Japanese martial arts in our dojo, Stojanoska will always be welcomed and will have our support through her carrier.

This was also the last seminar in the Skopje dojo, and from the next week onward, the Hombu dojo shall open the doors to its members, and for all other citizens that want to get acquainted with traditional Japanese martial arts.

The final edition of the seminar "Haragei" was held

Yesterday in the Hombu Dojo of the Organization ”Taiyou e no Michi” the final seminar on the topic of “Haragei” took place.

As shidoshi Dovezenski said beforehand, from next year onward the techniques for improvement of the senses and the body’s vigilance will be taught in a new event called “Senshin Teki Kyoyo” meaning spiritual betterment of the Warrior.

Although yesterdays seminar should have been held in nature specifically on the hill of Elenac, in the last moment the decision was altered. Actually, just before starting, the strong wind followed by snowfall was so cold, that in no time at all it froze the fingers and the face. And for meditation, better conditions are required, for it to be successful. Because of that, the event was transferred to the Hombu.

Ladies and gentlemen, see you next year in a new place and a new topic of study with witch we will continue this unusual spiritual quest.

Haragei V – The Final Edition

Posted on Categories Home

On the 25 of February the final edition on the topic of “Haragei” will be held. The instructor Igor Dovezenski has decided that five years have been enough time for his students to get acquainted with these techniques, and from now on they will continue to be tought through another seminar that will be put on the list for next year.

Hara (腹 ) is a Japanese term for a stomach, and Gei (芸) means art. However, in the martial arts this word bears another meaning, one of an inner and outer communication through discovering one’s self and the changes happening around us in due time. Zen teachers taught centuries ago that breathing with the Hara (stomach) clears the mind from any thoughts and enables a deep view in the inner self. Exactly that insight of the inner and outer changes is believed to grant the warrior a chance to recognize the danger and react to it at the same time. The famous zen monk, Takuan Soho, called this type of training for cultivation of the inner energy an „exercise for the immovable mind“.

Imagine a situation, You and Your opponent are two meters apart with pointed katanas at each other’s hearts. The tension increases and only one untimely breath or one blink of an eye could separate you from life and death. To recognize the attack, to feel the moment when you should react is the key.

This year for the last time, the instructor Dovezenski will teach his students how to enhance their senses, and through that improve their martial skills. Those that took part in all of the “Haragei” seminars, will have enough experience to transfer this skill to the younger members of the dojo, and their improvement will continue from next year, with further expansion of this skill through other techniques necessary for the betterment of every Warrior.

Sponsored by the Japanese international cooperation agency – JICA, as also the Japanese embassy in Macedonia, and by request of the organization MAK-JAMS from Skopje, the Dojo for classical Japanese martial arts “Taiyou e no Michi” organized a presentation (Embu) of Bujutsu, Aikijujutsu and Ninjutsu (arts).

The event took place the day before yesterday at the Institute for ethnology and anthropology at PMF – Skopje, in attendance of around thirty guests, among which was the Japanese consul for Macedonia, his Excellency Toyokazu Kubota accompanied by his wonderful wife. At the demonstration were present the leader of the dojo Igor Dovezenski, as also the members Marko Opacik, Zoran Todorovski, Vadimir Antonovski. Blagica Bozinovska, Taki Gakovski and Sanja Simonova. They presented in front of those present the Japanese classical martial arts meaning the schools which are tough at “Taiyou e no Michi” -Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu Bujutsu, Daito ryu Aikijujutsu, Gyokko ryu Koshijutsu and Koto ryu Koppojutsu.

At the end, during the modest cocktail, the consul Kubota in conversation with Dovezenski said that until now he has never been as impressed by a Bujutsu demonstration, especially noticing how he felt a collision of energies from the participants in the demonstration that reminded him of “Japanese warrior-monks” from the medieval period.
