The teacher Igor Dovezenski, together with his student Taki Gakovski, from the 11th to the 22nd of April visited the Homby of the Bujinkan Dojo in Noda (Japan) with the goal of improving their knowledge.

During the visit, they trained together with the dai-shihan’s and the inheritors of the schools (soke) that are taught in Bujinkan, they met and trained with: Norio Sakasai, Isamu Shiraishi, Yukio Noguchi, Toshiro Nagato, Hiroshi Nagase, Wataru Tezuka and others.

Unlike Dovezenski’s previous visits, when his time was exclusively dedicated to training with the teachers, this time he wished to let his student experience some of the Japanese culture and traditions for the first time. And so, in addition to the training sessions, they visited several different cities, japanese gardens, ancient temples, castles and other places connected to the samurai traditions.

During their visit they managed to spend some time talking to and visiting several Japanese teachers with which there was talk about future plans concerning Bujinkan Macedonia.

The chilly weather did nothing to dissuade the members of Bujinkan Macedonia from successfully realizing this 17th seminar dedicated to the techniques of spear fighting, also known as – “Strength of the Yari”.

The event was held at the forest of Mlaka, and in it took part around 20 practitioners from all different age groups.

It was truly inspiring to see the level of enthusiasm and dedication shown by the younger students, who actively expanded and deepened their knowledge of the art of SoJutsu (spear fighting) from the school of Shinden Fudo ryu DakenTaijutsu. Under the leadership of the teacher Igor Dovezensk, the participants had the opportunity to learn from his sizable experience and approach to teaching, which was paired with his selfless wish to share it with all those present.

According to the yearly program for Bujinkan Macedonia, the next seminar will be dedicated to the topics of HoJutsu and YumiYa.

This past Saturday, in the yard of the Hombu Dojo of the Organisation “Taiyou e no Michi”, a seminar was held on the topic of throwing Shuriken. In the event participated 23 students from Bujinkan Macedonia.

The events began with the practical section, where the students threw at three different targets. Under the tutelage of the instructor Igor Dovezenski several different throwing techniques were studied, with special effort given to perfect the participant’s accuracy, control and technique. All of the participants thus had the opportunity to showcase his technique and get some pointers as to where it needs improvement.

After the official part of the seminar, the participants spent their free time socialising by the Dojo’s fireplace, after which came the communal dinner and some board games.

This time event had the expected effect of making the participants full of energy and motivation, which translated into an improvement in skills, but also to create some wonderful memories of their time together.

With this Shuriken seminar we officially opened the 2026 season at the Hombu Dojo of  “Taiyou e no Michi”.

The teacher Igor Dovezenski in a joint training session with his compatriots from Katori Shinto ryu in Amsterdam

The leader of the Organisation “Taiyou e no Michi” ,Igor Dovezenski, completed a four day visit of Amsterdam, Holland, where he met up with some of his compatriots from the club of his deceased teacher and mentor for Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu Bojutsu.

The visit was dedicated to communal remembrance and respect, Dovezenski took an active participation in the training sessions organised in honour of their teacher Erik Louw’s birthday. The meeting was filled with strong emotions, especially with former students of Louw Sensei – people with which Dovezenski trained with, in many a past year, in Japan, but people that also have a lot of lasting memories of training at the Hombu Dojo of  “Taiyou e no Michi” in Macedonia.

In those rare moments of quiet self reflection, Dovezenski visited many of the places that marked his first steps into this discipline during his three day stay in 2013, spent, at that time, with his teacher. It was a trip down memory lane, but also a reminder that the Way goes on without end.

As a natural evolution of this meetup, a deal was struck for future cooperation with the successor of Louw Sensei, Marcel Breedveld. The cooperation will focus on regular joint training events, seminars and mutual visits of each other’s dojos in Macedonia and Holland – this will be a living bridge between tradition, friendship and a joint dedication towards the Way.

A Shinobi Taiso seminar in Skopje

Posted on Categories Home

Today, at the Skopje dojo of Bujinkan Macedonia, was held a seminar dedicated to the Shinobi Taiso system.

In the seminar several licensed instructors took part, and several dedicated candidates for the opportunity to transfer their knowledge during some of our regular classes. This event was a great opportunity to collectively enhance some of their methodology, exchange some practical knowledge and make a unified curriculum.

The work was done in a wonderfully positive and constructive atmosphere, with a clear accent given to the right ways to bodybuild as a foundation to any future personal technical development. The practical part of the event was given over to the exercises for strengthening and enhancing the mobility of the body from the second level (Junan Undo), with special attention to natural body movements, stability and coordination.

Besides this, we managed to work through several important topics from the second level, nutrition as the main support to a continuous training effort and the ways in which proper breathing techniques enhance the health of the body. These things were not discussed as only a theory but were taken as a practical way to keep oneself and others healthy, of sound constitution and internally balanced.

The seminar was a great way to remind ourselves of the importance of continuous education, self motivation and the slow but patient self improvement – all the things that make up the core of Shinobi Taiso and the ways in which of Budo functions as a concept.

The 13th Self-defense Workshop for Women

Posted on Categories Home

The Skopje Dojo of Bujinkan Macedonia was too small to house all of those interested in the traditional Self-defense Workshop for Women, which was held for the 13th time by the teacher Igor Dovezenski.

Although the first attendance quota was just 25 members of the fairer sex, the pressure put upon us by the large number of women wishing to participate, forced us to enlarge the quota threefold, until we finally had to cap the open spots at 40. We could no longer physically accept any more participants.

During the Workshop, the teacher Dovezenski taught them the simplest techniques that they can use to defend themselves without requiring a lot of experience or training.

Interest in the event was so large, that many of the participants in the 13th Workshop requested that another or similar event of this type be organized as soon as possible, and some of them have already decided to participate in some of the other seminars at our Hombu Dojo, which shall be starting its event’s season quite soon.

In the event participated twelve of the teacher Dovezneski’s students, all of which showed exceptional results during their training.

The leader of Bujinkan Macedonia selflessly shared his knowledge, transferring the techniques from him to the participants, regardless of their level of knowledge.
