A Naginata seminar was held

Posted on Categories Home

This past Sunday the yard of the Hombu resonated with the cries of the warriors from Bujinkan Macedonia. The event that brought them there and gave them the opportunity to bask in the knowledge of the teacher Igor Dovezenski was the art of fighting with a Naginata.

It is interesting to note, that this weapon from the Middle Ages, which is a blade attached to a long wooden pole, was once one of the favorite samurai battlefield weapons.

The members of Bujinkan Macedonia regularly, at least twice a year, study and practice the Naginata techniques, which are admittedly quite eye catching.

Beside the training sessions, the participant also enjoy hanging out together, this is an integral part of every seminar held at the hearth ( Hombu Dojo) of the “Taiyou e no Michi” organization.

“Life in the Wild VII” – The Last Adventure

Posted on Categories Home

After a two year pause, caused by the corona pandemic, this weekend we managed to finally bring to a close the serial called “Life in the Wild”. And so, from next year, we are ready to embark on another adventure during which the members of Bujinkan Macedonia shall improve themselves in yet another way.

The seventh and last survival seminar from this series was held on the hill of Bogoslovec in Ovce Pole. The location was chosen so that we could experience steppe conditions, which was the topic of the last “Life in the Wild”. Although there is no true steppe in Macedonia, scientists have discovered that there are similar biomes in the regions of Ovce Pole and Lower Bregalnica, and so this entire region is called a half or pseudo-steppe. We experienced for ourselves that there is a reason why this region is classified as such.

We don’t need to remind you that the “Life in the Wild” series of seminars were the successors of the previous series titled “Survival in Nature”, that gained a legendary reputation as an extremely harsh survival experiences.
The task and goal of the “Life in the Wild” seminars was to teach the students and the teacher Igor Dovezenski how to survive as a group in many different biomes: low mountains or hills, mountains higher that a 1000 meters, near a river or a lake, in a forest, in desert conditions and finally in a steppe.

We have to express our satisfaction with the fact that around a hundred members of Bujinkan Macedonia have taken part in these events during which wilderness survival techniques are taught, and we would also like to express our joy at the fact that many of those that took part in these events successfully mastered many of the survival techniques. The generations that took part in these events had the honor of becoming a part of the history of Bujinkan Macedonia, because the shihan Dovezenski plans to slowly phase out survival seminars in favor of other types of events.

We conclude this report by informing you that the Teacher has prepared two diplomas for the students Taki Gakovski and Vladimir Antovski so that their work, dedication, sacrifice and the knowledge they have gathered during their participation in the “Life in the Wild” seminars can be properly honored. Out of the seven seminars that made up this series, Antovski took part in six and Gakovski took part in five. With that and with their knowledge, they earned the trust of their teacher and he always rewards the work and dedication of his students.

These two, because of their knowledge on the topic of group survival in different terrain, have earned this diploma which is both an acknowledgment and proof of their expertise.

From next year onward there will be a new series of seminars, that shall substitute the previous ones, and it shall be called “Shinobi Kampo – Traditional herbal medicine”.

Another black belt in Bujinkan Macedonia

After successfully passing the test for shidan (first dan) that took place this Sunday in the Hombu dojo of “Taiyou e no Michi”, after a decade of training in our Dojo, sempai Taki Gakovski definitely earned the long-awaited “black belt”. And with that, Bujinkan Macedonia received another Yudensha (carrier of a master degree) and another Shidoshi Ho (junior instructor).

As we have already mentioned, the test (Shiken) was held at the Hombu dojo of the Organization “Taiyou e no Michi”, where this rare event was celebrated with a wonderful atmosphere.

After the event concluded, the teacher Dovesenski held a short speech that caused tears of joy in all those present. This was not out of the ordinary, if you take into account the amount of work needed to reach the black belt in Bujinkan Macedonia. At least ten years of regular training, and the shedding of a lot of blood, sweat and tears upon the tatami.

Shidoshi Ho Taki Gakovski is one of the most dedicated members of Bujinkan Macedonia, responsible for the functioning of the kids group (Ninja Kids). He has taken part in almost all of the seminars organized by our Dojo and never misses even the regular weekly training classes.

We congratulate him from the bottom of our hearts and wish him many more years of bravely walking upon the Path.

Togakure ryu Ninjutsu – weekend camp

At a place called Zaevac, on the slopes of the mythical mountain of Lipac, this weekend a mini-camp was held in which took part around ten members of Bujinkan Macedonia stemming from all age groups.

Quartered at a very well organized Ninja encampment, in tents and sleeping bags, with kettle cooked food upon an open fire, the students from the dojo enjoyed the atmosphere and the idyllic nature that surrounded them.

During the event, the teacher Dovezenski taught techniques with the Kunai, Senban and Shuko from the school of Togakure ryu Ninjutsu. And, as always, when talking about seminars organized by the leader of “Taiyou e no Michi”, the katas were broken down to smallest details. Some of the members of the dojo, and especially those that were introduced to these weapons for the first time were delighted at the opportunity and by their efficiency.

By the event’s end, all the participants grew so attached to the location that they simply didn’t want to leave. Luckily, in just two weeks time another great seminar will take place – “Kenjutsu under the stars of Lipac”, and so all the Warriors from the dojo will have another opportunity to socialize and while perfecting their skills.
