Togakure ryu Ninjutsu – weekend camp

Posted on Categories Home

At a place called Zaevac, on the slopes of the mythical mountain of Lipac, this weekend a mini-camp was held in which took part around ten members of Bujinkan Macedonia stemming from all age groups.

Quartered at a very well organized Ninja encampment, in tents and sleeping bags, with kettle cooked food upon an open fire, the students from the dojo enjoyed the atmosphere and the idyllic nature that surrounded them.

During the event, the teacher Dovezenski taught techniques with the Kunai, Senban and Shuko from the school of Togakure ryu Ninjutsu. And, as always, when talking about seminars organized by the leader of “Taiyou e no Michi”, the katas were broken down to smallest details. Some of the members of the dojo, and especially those that were introduced to these weapons for the first time were delighted at the opportunity and by their efficiency.

By the event’s end, all the participants grew so attached to the location that they simply didn’t want to leave. Luckily, in just two weeks time another great seminar will take place – “Kenjutsu under the stars of Lipac”, and so all the Warriors from the dojo will have another opportunity to socialize and while perfecting their skills.

The first ever Bujinkan Manga has been published
Yesterday the first Bujinkan Manga (Japanese comic book) on planet Earth was published, a work by the only creators of this type of genre in Macedonia, the teacher Igor Dovezenski (author) and his student Taki Gakovski (illustrator). Through the manga titled “Takamatsu in China – The Fight with Cho Shiryu”, they lead us on an amazing journey through the world of the last operational Japanese Ninja – Toshitsugu Takamatsu.

Based upon a true story from the teacher Masaaki Hatsumi, the author Dovezenski spent two years researching the details surrounding a story that took place more than a hundred years ago. As a result, the Macedonian public will have the honor of reading about the adventures of the ninja Toshitsugu Takamatsu.

For Your information, even before the first copy of this comic book was printed, several foreign investors and publishing houses expressed an interest in buying the publishing rights with the request that there be no Macedonian publication, concerned that such a publication would be unprofitable. But guided by his patriotism and a love for his country, Dovezenski refused all such offers and decided that this comic book will first be published and presented to the readers from his beloved MACEDONIA.

At the same time a deal was struck with a New York based firm for the publication and distribution of this manga, the firm shall translate, distribute and sell the manga on the American market, which makes the author Dovezenski and the illustrator Gakovski the first artists that have managed to promote their work outside the borders of Macedonia and to the USA market.

By ordering this comic book, You will be supporting the authors in their noble battle to revitalize the nearly dead Macedonian comic book culture, and at the same time we shall be representing our country outside its borders (under its constitutional name of course).

Under the big walnut tree in the yard of the Hombu Dojo of “Taiyou e no Michi, this past Saturday a seminar was held on the topic of Chigiriki.

For those that are not familiar with it, this medieval Japanese weapon consists of a wooden staff with a chain and an iron weight.

The seminars with Chigirki are known to be fun, interesting and at the same time not very physically taxing, but are known to cause pain in certain parts of the body because of the weapon’s efficiency.

Envisioned as a daylong family bonding and socializing event, three Macedonian families in the forest of Mlaka situated in the valley below the mountain of Lipac learned how to build a shelter, how to start a fire using primitive tools, to signal for help and how to administer first aid in case of an injury.

At the event’s conclusion, the parent continued to mingle under the summerhouse situated in the yard of the Dojo “Taiyou e no Michi”, while the children played in the shade of Hombu’s big walnut tree.
Until our next meeting…

During the last training before the start of the Corona pandemic in March of 2020, sempai Vladimir Antovski gained the accolade of “Genin”, at that time we didn’t even manage to write a report about his accomplishment, because we were overtaken by the developing situation and we were forced to close the doors of our Dojo. But now, we are calm and collected and with the utmost pleasure we would like to inform You that sempai Blagica Bozinovska is the fourth member of Bujinkan Macedonia that has gained the accolade of “Genin”. Also, for your information, the bronze medal “Genin” is awarded after ten years of dedicated and consistent training at “Taiyou e no Michi”, as an acknowledgment for dedication and loyalty shown towards the Dojo, the other students and the teacher. In the yard of the Hombu Dojo of the Organization “Taiyou e no Michi”, this Saturday a seminar was held on the topic of shooting with a bow and arrow (Yumi Ya).

Ten members of Bujikan Macedonia took part in the event, which focuses on the study of the skills of using the Yumi Ya from the school of Togakure ryu. The techniques were practiced using a handmade bow (Maruki Yumi), a short ninja bow (Hankyu), and a Turkish bow, all with the goal of understanding and overcoming the differences inherent in these tools.

Shooting was done from four different body positions, on a target at a distance of ten meters.

Already for the next seminar, it is planned for the shooting to be done with some new hankyu bows which will perform far better than the current ones.
