Report for 2013

Posted on Categories Home
In last year’s report, we mentioned that for the first time since our founding we aren’t 100% satisfied with our results. That was so due to the fact that some of our advanced students have quit training and left our dojo. The long years of practice and friendship resulted in a strong emotional connection and as a result, sadness because of their absence.

However, it seems that we are past that now. We’ve grown up and realized that not everyone can follow the Path. We realized that we shouldn’t be sad for those that leave, but be happy for those that keep on walking side-by-side with us. Those that share in the happiness and grief that takes place in the dojo. In the end, it proved that many that once left, return to us and continue walking on the Path.
This past year was a great success for the Organization for studying classical Japanese martial arts “Taiyou e no Michi”.
We began with organizing international seminars in our country. At our immense pleasure, the shihan Antonino Certa, our Daito Ryu Aikibudo teaches paid us a several-day visit. He held a seminar in our dojo under Lipac, becoming the first koryu teacher to teach in our Hombu. Concerning recent events in the European Daito Kai organization, the instructor Igor Dovezenski was given the responsibility of spreading and teaching Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu on the territory of South-eastern Europe as a shibu-cho (branch leader) in Macedonia. Additionally, he gained the shodan (master) degree gaining the title Shidoin.
At the beginning of the year, instructor Igor Dovezenski visited Amsterdam (Netherlands) for a week, becoming a personal student to shidosha Erik Louw. Sensei Louw is one of the first non-Japanese masters of the oldest martial school, Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. In September, Dovezenski gave a blood oath (keppan) in front of the chief shihan for this ancient art, Nobutoshi Otake, and with the permission of sensei Louw, opened the first section for Katori Shinto Ryu in Macedonia and in the Balkans.
As for the domestic seminars, this year we did break some records. All three dojos of Taiyou e no Michi held a total of 21 seminars during which shidoshi Dovezenski selflessly shared his knowledge with his students. Six of the seminars were held in the Skopje dojo, nine were intensive and held in the Hombu dojo, and six were outdoor seminars. Additionally, Dovezenski held the traditional woman self-defense workshop as well as the all-important Ninja Summer Camp.
This year, for the last time we held out renown feats “Survial” and “The path of Shugenja”. It was a hard decision, but it had to be done. On the other hand, they will be switched with new events that will give our work an additional impulse.
In regards of other important events, it is worth mentioning the seminar organized by the MMA club “Strshlen”, at which instructor Igor Dovezenski taught about the Ninpo Ne Waza system. This cooperation will continue in the future, and Dovezenski would like to extend his readiness to help any martial arts practitioners that would like to know more about the classical Japanese martial arts (koryu).

During the December testing, 14 students passed the test for a higher degree. This was the first time that we held testing for children, during
during which Kosara D. and Ksenija D. successfully passed the 10th kyu test, and Bujinkan Macedonia gained a new sempai (Tina D.).
This year we had a couple of invitations to take part in the public media, but we realized that those opportunities aren’t the most appropriate to present our work, so we refused them. We were only present throughout the web portals that are mostly concerned with healthy living and sports.
At the end we should mention our new web page www.koryu.mk as well as the redesign of our other web pages – www.bujinkan.org.mk and www.daito.koryu.mk.

We are going to be practicing Koto Ryu Koppojutsu  in 2014. We have a lot of plans in the new year and we hope that with hard work and dedication we will make them come true.

Ninpo Ikkan. Happy New 2014!!!

The last seminar for this year held

Posted on Categories Home
Yeasterday in the Bujinkan Macedonia dojo in Skopje the last seminar for this year was organized, on subject: „Shinken Gata Chika Maai Heiho“ or loosely translated: „Strategy for close combat“. On this seminar 14 of our members participated who five hours nonstop practiced these fast and dynamic techniques.
At the end of the seminar, the participants shared their impressions, so we will share some of them:
– After this seminar, blood was pumping for hours in my veins – Zoran T.
– The seminar was filled with positive energy and passion for more knowledge. At the end I felt happy and completely fulfilled – Taki G.
– Here we talk about training, about desires and smiles after five hours of punching, falling, throwing. We talk about discipline and obedience, about respecting the elders and the younger. We talk about a teacher that flawlessly performs the techniques and carefully follows our every strike, block and behavior. We talk about happy, smiling, joyful and energetic people, for one big family. With students like these, with training like this, a good seminar is inevitable – Marko O.
– Excellent seminar as always. Five hours hard training, sweating, punching, blocking, getting free from grips, tackling down, control and everything else. Combat with an opponent and controlling the situation around you. All who participated invested their maximum for every technique, from the beginners to the elders, and when you engage that much in the training, those five hours pass as five minutes – Vlatche A.
– There was no sun, but the day was beautiful and we did sweat a lot. Sensei greatest thanks for the wonderful ending of 2013 – Risto Riki Razbirash (Bogdanci)
– The seminar was unbelievably good, we learned a lot, recalled some things and for everything we’ve practiced I tried to do my best. After the first two hours, my concentration lowered slightly and I got 5 – 6 punches on my body, but quickly recovered. I thank for the seminar. When I could choose the next theme, I would choose something similar, so we can „bruise“ each other again – Mihail D.
– This is our second seminar and we really had a great time. We especially like the friendly relation and the dedication of the participants. Our only remark was that we would like events like this one to be organized more frequently – Maja and Angela.

Shidoshi Dovezenski held Ninpo Ne Waza seminar for the MMA fighters from the club „Strshlen“

Posted on Categories Home

On an invitation from the coach of the MMA club „Strshlen“, Dr. Sinisha Stojanoski, instructor Igor Dovezenski held a full day

seminar for Ninpo Ne Waza. On this seminar techniques for positioning on the ground, transitions, techniques for control, strangling techniques, as well as techniques using levers on the joints were taught.
In addition, shidoshi Dovezenski always had respect for the discipline and the will for the mixed martial art fighters’ training, and so far he helped several individuals who wanted to increase their knowledge and to better their technique and skill. However, with this seminar, for the first time collaboration was achieved between the clubs and opportunity to represent and use the traditional Japanese martial arts in the training of the MMA fighters.
During the training, the members of the club „Strshlen“ tried their maximum to absorb the techniques that were shown while being assisted by two students of Bujinkan Macedonia. The first hour of training passed with a small dose of mistrust, but as the time passed the participants gradually showed respect more, so at the end the whole seminar ended in a great friendly atmosphere. The company was great, the barrier was completely destroyed and a path for further collaboration was opened.

At the end of the seminar, coach Stojanoski expressed gratitude for the selfless transfer of knowledge by the instructor of Bujinkan Macedonia, and shidoshi Dovezenski wished the members of „Strshlen“ success in the following tournaments.
You can find additional information for the MMA club „Strshlen“ on their official Facebook profile, and in case you want to contact their coach directly, you can do that here:

Ninpo Ne Waza® seminar

In the Dojo of classical Japanese martial arts„Bujinkan Macedonia“, great attention is always dedicated to Ne Waza – techniques for combat on the ground. In the arts inherited from Takamatsu, these techniques can be met in Takagi Joshin Ryu and Shinden Fudo Ryu. Many of the katas of these two schools end with strangling techniques and using levers in laying or sitting position.

Popular sports and arts today, such as MMA and BJJ, use these techniques for combat on the ground to win in the rings around the world. In the past, the same techniques were used by the Japanese warriors with purpose to survive the turbulent times and everyday life. In Ninpo Ne Waza, some techniques are still used that are banned in sparring, although are really efficient in situations when the life`s in danger.

Instructor Igor Dovezenski is organizing a seminar for Ninpo Ne Waza, meant only for the members of the organization Taiyou e no Michi, regardless of the degree or arts trained.

The event was supported by the Organization for teaching Japanese martial arts „Taiyou e no Michi“, and a total of nine of its members participated.

As always, sensei Cherta selflessly shared his knowledge getting into the tiniest details of the katas of Nikkajo. The participants trained hard all the time and didn`t save themselves even for a moment.

During the seminar, shihan Cherta officially awarded the diploma for shodan and license for shibu cho to his representative for Macedonia, Igor Dovezenski.

At the end, we would like to express a great thanks to our teacher Antonino Cherta and to wish him a good health. We’ll see each other again next year in Macedonia.

Posted on Categories Home

Total of 11 participants, nine of them members of Bujinkan Macedonia and two guests, this weekend were tackling the techniques of self-defense in the Hombu Dojo of the organization Taiyou e no Michi.

During Saturday, two trainings were held. The first one was dedicated to getting free of hand and body grapples, and the second one to techniques of self-defense while the victim sits on a chair.

On Sunday, martial techniques on the ground were taught, as well as ways to deal with an attack when the attacker presses his victim to the wall.

During the whole event, there was an unbelievable positive atmosphere in the dojo, and smiles weren`t taken down from the pretty faces, even for a moment. Even though the techniques were approached with great caution, humor constantly slipped through and additionally motivated the participants.

The ladies used the free time for walks in the beautiful nature that is located around the dojo of Taiyou e no Michi, and the instructor Dovezenski tried to make their every moment special.

At the end it was announced from 2014 two events to be had yearly that are going to be dedicated exclusively to the members of the gentler sex.

The Path of Shugenja® VII (The Final Journey) held

Posted on Categories Home

Fifty eight kilometres in 12 hours were walked by the participants in the seminar The Path of Shugenja, which was held yesterday.
On „The Final Journey“, 13 members from Bujinkan Macedonia and two guests were participating. Unfortunately, halfway of the predicted route, one of them had to quit because of health problems, caused by the great strain.

The seminar started at 08.00 hours, when after short preparations, the group directed herself to the slopes of Lipac. After hour of climbing, Beljakovski Monastery was reached, and then the participants continued south, to Pezovo. On the halfway to the village, one of the participants of the seminar started to experience health problems, after what shidoshi Dovezenski had to decrease the movement speed. With a turn to south-east, the group headed to the village Tatomir, where the frail one was sent by a car to Skopje. Because of the unplanned detour, a slight change was made to the plan, so instead of of the finishing point to be Skala, the group made a circle arc to the north walking around the west part of Sekulica. With the gradual decrease of elevation, the participants got down to the bed of River Kriva Reka in the village Shopsko Rudare. Moving to the west, through Konjuh, they entered the village Beljakovce. Five kilometres until the starting point, in honor of The Final Journey, the members of Bujinkan Macedonia did fifty push-ups with full gear on, and then walked the last kilometres. After reaching the starting point of the route, shidoshi Dovezenski announced this seven-year feat as closed.

The calculations that were made with the help of army maps and satellite navigation, showed that in 12 hours sharp, 58 kilometres were walked in hill, mountain and difficult to pass terrain.

11092013071009shugendobre1.jpgThe warriors from the traditional Japanese martial arts dojo, Bujinkan Macedonia, this year for the last time are going to have the spiritual journey called „The Path of Shugenja“.

After seven years since the first march, shidoshi Igor Dovezenski decided it is time this event too to go in the „history“, and to join the other feats that Bujinkan Macedonia is known for.

What is this event about?
Twenty days before this event, instructor Dovezenski lays out a geographic map of Macedonia on the ground, and then with his eyes tied shut points to a specific location. Then with a ruler he draws the direction from the start to the finish point. Afterwards, the participants of the seminar follow that route regardless of the terrain conditions. In average, the route that is walked is about 50 kilometers, and the record was set in 2009, when the members of Bujinkan Macedonia walked 80 kilometers in 15 hours and 40 minutes.

Shugendo is an ancient Japanese method that explores the relations between man and nature. Shugendo means „Path through training and testing“, more precise it is an ascetic discipline that has a goal to achieve self-improvement by withdrawal in mountains, meditation under waterfalls and cold rivers, breathing exercises on unreachable terrain, everything to achieving incredible feats through testing the physical and mental endurance. Those who practice this method, are known under the name of Shugenja, and the teaching is practiced even today in Japan.

As the founder of the teaching is considered En no Gyoja, who lived near Kyoto during the 7th century a.d. The other name that these followers were known for, is Yamabushi or Mountain Warriors. They cruised the11092013071035Skala.jpg mountain ridges of the Japanese islands visiting and protecting the many shrines. Some scholars believe that exactly these people, joined with the fleeing Chinese generals after the fall of the Tang dynasty, are considered to be the founders of the art Ninjutsu.
