Over thirty female participants enjoyed yesterday’s wonderful atmosphere that simply permeated the air during the traditional “Women’s self defense workshop” that is held and organized each year by Bujinkan Macedonia. 

This event was organized for the first time in the Republic of Macedonia in the year 2008 and since then it has become a synonym for quality training for the members of the fairer sex. 

During the Workshop, many different self-defense techniques for dealing with ruffians were taught and all according to different possible and real scenarios that could potentially happen. 

It is important to note, that during the seminar the teacher Igor Dovesenski insists on equal training of the physical and mental faculties and techniques as to better prepare the women for all possible unfortunate circumstances, and so he and his assistants play the role of brigands, all with the goal of allowing the female participants to face the real fear and intensity that come with a real attack.

A Shinobi Taiso seminar geared for instructors was held this past Sunday in the Skopje dojo of Bujinkan Macedonia.

Those that attended the seminar had the opportunity to learn some new Junan Taiso and Junan Undo techniques, and some new ways to manipulate the body and balance out all types of muscle imbalances. 

Furthermore, the teacher Igor Dovezenski taught ways in which the body could be stretched using the so-called Shinobi Wheel, a prop used as a support during some of the exercises.

At the region known as S’mkneno in the vicinity of our Hombu Dojo, yesterday a traditional winter survival seminar titled “Ways of Winter Survival” was held. 

The frozen pond water was a clear indication of the temperature being under zero for the majority of our time spent there, but the sun shining, as it usually does over Macedonian soil, made us feel like it was springtime. 

As we do every year, we repeated some of the older lessons, and we learned some new ones. Also, two of our members attempted to pass the difficult winter survival test and one of them was successful. Mihail Drakalski – we congratulate you. After so many attempts, you finally, and deservedly, succeeded. 

This year we had a well attended seminar. 16 all in all. “Ways of Winter Survival” is known as one of the most attractive seminars for the members of Bujinkan Macedonia, but also for the people that come ‘from outside’ our dojo to partake in some of our magical energy. 

It is interesting to note that the teacher Igor Dovezenski started to study the techniques of survival at the age of seven, under the tutelage of his grandfather Ljubomir, who had been a partisan scout during the second world war. After the war ended, he spent another three years in the army, training reconnaissance units that were tasked with scout the terrain in front of advancing tank divisions, learning the terrain and gathering intelligence on enemy units. And so this is an anniversary year for Dovezenski, he has spent 40 years studying, training, practicing and teaching survival techniques.

The ninth Kids Ninja Marathon was held this past Sunday, in the Skopje Dojo of Bujinkan Macedonia. 

This event, which takes place once a month during the winter time, is made with the goal of using fun and friendship to bring the Japanese martial arts closer to the youngest members of the Ninja Kids section.

The next Kids Ninja Marathon will be held in February. See you then.

Disappointed by the pandemic stricken 2020 and the forced illogical measures and restrictions that completely changed the course of our lives, we refused to let 2021 to go by without any events that will write new chapters in the history of Bujinkan Macedonia and Taiyou e no Michi.

And so, if last year we had nothing of note and so nothing for us to write about in our yearly Report of our work, in 2021 we made sure to bravely and proudly return some of our old glamor and to continue on the Way, paying no attention to the hardships caused by the chaotic global health crisis. 

Respected members of Bujinkan Macedonia and dear friends, this past year we managed to organize 25 seminars. Of them, four were held in the Skopje Dojo, five were held in nature, and 16 were held in our Homby Dojo in the valley under Lipac.

There are also a few events that merit mentioning, firsty there was the sucesfull masters degree (shodan) testing of our longstanding member Taki Gakovski, that was held in July in the Hombu of Bujinkan Macedonia. We would also like to mention the two “Genin” bronze awards that were awarded to two notable members of our dojo: Blagica Bozinovska and Mihail Drakalski.

 

 

A notable event was the publication of the first ever Bujinkan manga, that was authored by the teacher and leader of Bujinkan Macedonia – Igor Dovezenski, along with his loyal student Taki Gakovski. The comic book was printed in Macedonian and English and over 100 pieces have already been sold in our country and in over 300 pieces in other countries across the world.

This year was also marked by the last edition of the series of seminars known as “Life in the Wild” and we have already announced the beginning of a new series of seminars set to start in 2022, but more on that topic at some later date. 

And this Report cannot be complete if we do not mention the legendary Summer Ninja Camps that were successfully held at our Hombu dojo during this past year. 

And so we end this Report by wishing you a happy new 2022 and we hope that you have nothing but success on your travels upon the Way.

On the day before the start of the new year, the children and beginners of Bujinkan Macedonia had the opportunity to test their skills and to take part in the yearly testing for the attainment of higher student degrees. 

From the children’s group “Ninja Kids”, a higher degree was obtained by: Jana C., Antoni P. and Mihail V. (10 kyu), also Mario N. and Petar K., (9 kyu), Marko P. and Darjan B. (8 kyu), and Demian B. ( 7 kyu). 

From the beginners group for adults the tenth kyu was attained by Todor R., the ninth kyu Sara G., Jovana N., for the eight kyu Marina J., for the seventh Ljubomir P., while the sixth kyu was attained by Tanja R., and Marko P. 

To all the students that attained a higher degree we extend our heartfelt congratulations and our wish that they continue to walk that Path with determination and courage.
